It all started with a group of members of First Baptist Church, Dartmouth who resided in the Southdale area of Dartmouth. This was an area of rapid expansion and they recognised the need to establish a church community. On 21 January 1955, at an organizational meeting of South End United Baptist Church the following were received, via letter, as the Charter Members:

First meeting of the Advisory Committee. This resulted as a change in the Church?s Constitution to split the Finance and Advisory committee into two separate committees.
